Castles & Gardens
The spectacular Dunrobin Castle is only a short drive from Links House, and whether guests are looking to enjoy a tour of the historic property’s stunning interiors, or admire the majestic gardens, it makes for a truly unforgettable experience.
Links House guests are also able to partake in exclusive hawk and owl experiences in the castle gardens, thanks to our relationship with Manor Falconry.
Slightly further north, guests can find Dunbeath Castle and gardens. Whilst not normally open to the public, Links House guests can enjoy appointments to view their stunning gardens which appear to stretch into the water. With a heated greenhouse re-modelled in 1998 by the Chelsea Garden Gold Award winner Xa Tollemache and second garden on the north side of the driveway comprising of a variety of grasses, water features and a Japanese style pagoda, it is a truly magic way to enjoy an afternoon in the Scottish Highlands.
Just over an hour south of Links House sits Cawdor Castle. Home to Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the current structure is thought to date back to the 15th century. Although famed for its literary connection to Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the actual 11th century events upon which the play is based took place many years before the castle was built. However the castle does boast its own unique tale surrounding its construction. According to legend, the castle is built around a thorn tree, which has since been identified as a holly dating from 1372, which visitors can still see today in the dungeon.
