The History of Links House
Originally a Free Church of Scotland Manse House built in 1843 for the Dornoch Free Church, Links House has been an integral part of the Dornoch community and a much-loved family home for over 180 years.
In 1909, land adjacent to Links House was bought by the Golf Club, with support from Andrew Carnegie for a new clubhouse, and during the Second World War the house was requisitioned for use as Officers Quarters.
Owner Todd Warnock fell in love with the house in 2008 during one of his regular visits to Dornoch, and in 2011, with the guidance of James Maxwell, principal architect of Skibo Castle’s renovations, along with O’Brien Properties, work began on the new chapter for the property. With interiors inspired by our location and set out with the aim to provide the ideal retreat for those looking to enjoy the best of the region.
Welcoming guests since 2013, providing the ultimate Highlands hospitality experience has always been our primary aim here at Links House. Seeking to create an unmatched offering, in what was previously Links House’s kitchen garden, Glenshiel was constructed in 2013. Containing our signature Mallart Penthouse Apartment, Anteroom and five further suites, Glenshiel brought our total number of bedrooms to 15. This expansion was followed most recently in 2021, with the opening of MARA, our fine dining restaurant that seeks to celebrate the best of Scotland’s larder.
